Stephen is an award-winning photographer and writer living in Salt Lake City with his family. Most recently he edited the nationally recognized SLCC Magazine at Salt Lake Community College, where he worked for more than eight and a half years as a lead writer and photographer. In 2022, one of his photographs earned the national Council for Advancement and Support of Education Circle of Excellence Award’s Gold Award. Stephen’s recent clients as a freelance photographer include SLCC, Utah Youth Village, Highland High School and Sundance Institute, for whom he has documented the film festival since 2012. He also worked as a reporter for the Deseret News and the Tooele Transcript Bulletin, his first job as a journalist. Originally from the Chicago area, Stephen graduated from Illinois State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in English. He is currently pursuing a college-era dream of becoming a published poet, navigating the highs and lows of acceptance and rejection.
