Local Arts & Culture
Utah's arts and culture landscape is vibrant, diverse, and often underreported. For Spring 2026, Voices of Utah students immersed themselves in documenting the creative communities shaping our state. From muralists transforming Salt Lake City's streets to dancers pushing contemporary boundaries and from drag artists raising money for charity to curators building inclusive exhibitions, these stories illuminate the artists, institutions, and movements that define Utah's cultural identity.
Journalism students at the University of Utah brought these narratives to life through in-depth reporting, profiles, and multimedia storytelling. Through partnerships with Amplify Utah, Salt Lake magazine, and KRCL 90.9 FM's RadioActive, students published arts coverage in real-world outlets while refining their skills across print, digital, and audio platforms. This immersive capstone experience bridged classroom learning with professional journalism practice, amplifying the voices of Utah's creative communities and producing substantive arts coverage that matters.
